It seems that TikTok has taken the world by storm in 2020, with the platform becoming incredibly popular during lockdown as people looked for fun and light entertainment as the global pandemic swept across nations.

Therefore, it’s little surprise that what’s been happening on the platform is influencing trends elsewhere, and Marie Claire recently picked out the top fashion trends from TikTok this year.

One trend that’s proved highly popular on the platform, for instance, is tie dye, with over two billion creations using the hashtag #tiedye uploaded to TikTok so far this year!

If you’re looking for accessories to complement your party dresses in the UK, look to the 90s for some inspiration. Scrunchies are on their way back in and other items to consider investing in include claw clips, crop tops and baggy jeans, according to the influencers on TikTok.

Another fashion trend that’s taken the platform by storm is #cottagecore. If you’re looking to style this out, think floaty floral dresses and flowers in your hair. Essentially you’re aiming to become the picture of countryside boho chic.

Meanwhile, Glamour Magazine suggested that shoulder pads are sneaking their way back into our wardrobes. The publication pointed to a host of items that have started appearing with shoulder pads firmly in place, from dresses and blazers to sleeveless tops and even bodysuits.

“One of the fashion set’s favourite looks right now is the shoulder-padded vest,” the magazine revealed, highlighting a number of examples that have been spotted on social media influencers as well as in high-street stores in recent months.
